DIY Techno Robot Kit

January 5th, 2009 by Conner Flynn

Here’s your chance to build a chubby little robot friend for only $16. It even moves. If you think you have what it takes to assemble a cardboard outer body casing around a mechanical engine this could be your new playmate. He takes 2 AA batteries and will melt your geek heart with fuzzy robo-love.

Retro Robot Alarm Clock

December 29th, 2008 by Conner Flynn

Check out this retro looking and somewhat tubby alarm clock. You just know that if he actually moved, he would be wheezing, shuffling slowly and having a robo-coronary. But he’s still pretty cool for $24.00. Takes 1 AA battery.

So what, he’s a little fat. That’s what happens when you don’t wind them up once in a while.

Retro Glass Robot Christmas Ornaments

December 8th, 2008 by Conner Flynn

Check out this set of retro Christmas ornaments. They are modeled after vintage toy robots.

If you’re like me, you already have a bunch of robot ornaments on the tree. Why not add a few more? Eventually you’ll have enough for a separate robot tree.

Kim The Talking Robot Alarm Clock

October 18th, 2008 by Conner Flynn

Kim has a face that only a nerd could love. Just press her nose and her eyes light up red as she states the current time with her robot voice. With her gold metallic curls and green speaker mouth, she won’t give you the attention of a real woman, but what do you care since you’ve been in the house for 2 months straight playing WoW. She’ll do.

Awesome Robot Art: Eric Joyner’s Artificial Enlightenment

September 8th, 2008 by Conner Flynn

The Eric Joyner Artificial Enlightenment exhibit was featured at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City, CA, on September 6, 2008. Joyner’s Artificial Enlightenment paintings mostly focus on the vintage toy bots we all know and love, all juxtaposed into chaos, several feature a donut oddly enough. Joyner’s paintings have robots doing motorcycle stunts, making donuts, driving trains, and more.

Do yourself a favor and check out his website. I’m thinking of contacting him for a few pieces to hang on the Botropolis office walls, which have huge holes from robot attacks.

Awesome Tin Robot Cake

August 30th, 2008 by Conner Flynn

Check out this cool robot cake from debbiedoescakes’ flickr pool. It looks like it could get up and walk. It’s modeled after a vintage style Japan space robot tin toy, complete with wind-up key. But how can one eat something this beautiful?

Vintage Toy Robots Galore

August 27th, 2008 by Conner Flynn

As a collector of vintage toy robots I’m always on the lookout for cool new(Or old) stuff. Over at Darkroastedblend, they recently showcased a bunch of sweet vintage robots. These guys are all from those beautiful heady days before robots in real life started gaining the abilities needed to kill and maim. These babies are all treasured by human collectors and they are good to have around because in the future when a robot storms your house, you will be spared thanks to robo-worship.
