Why Hal Sang “Daisy” in 2001: A Space Odyssey

If you’re like us, you’ve no doubt wondered why the HAL 9000 computer sang “Daisy Bell” in the 1968 science fiction film 2001: A Space Odyssey, written by Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke.
This video below is taken from a documentary where Arthur C. Clarke was visiting Bell Labs in the early 60s, and it just might answer that question. And if you’ve only seen the movie, do yourself a favor and read all 4 of the books.
