Robotic Plant Gives Us the Nod

October 2nd, 2008 by Matthew Bilyeu

This robot nods when you talk to it. It is a robotic plant that nods. Is this simply a cute little toy or a microcosm of the nihilist’s universe? Surely one can’t help but be overwhelmed by the futility of life when looking upon this plant, this little plastic plant that nods when it’s spoken to. But perhaps the fact that we can feel such emptiness offers indication of a kind of transcendent human condition. Hmm. Or maybe I’m over-analyzing this. A plant that nods. Let’s hope this nod-to-everything software is installed in fembots everywhere immediately. This plant is good for children, old people, the very lonely, and those in need of health in Resident Evil.

Saddest Robots In Eurasia

July 23rd, 2008 by Conner Flynn

Over at io9, they showcased a few examples of how a sad robot cultural phenomenon is showing up everywhere. Particularly in Eurasia. For some reason humans are expressing their own general sadness through robots.

Come on, this guy is pitiful. When you see a sad robot, you just want to give it a hug.
