Minus the string. It’s a robot kit from Japan that lets you build your own ball shaped robot that can pull off all sorts of wild and crazy moves as it gyrates around your floor. The real fun starts when you set the Tornader into one of its insane spin modes. It’s kind of like the ultimate bot breakdancing.
Each Tornader ships with a multi-channel infrared remote, which lets you operate up to four of them in the same room at the same time for complete robotic dance-offs. And each robot has a customizeable space on the side where you can place colorful printed patterns that will show off when the Tornader hits maximum speed.
It should be awesome when people start adding lights and crazy sound effects.
It’s only available in Japan, but Japan Trend Shop has started to sell them worldwide for $121.
Why buy a Transformers toy, when you can build your own? That’s what this engineer did. The end result is completely awesome and the best actual transforming toy ever.
It’s called the Humvee Biloid. A fully transformable robot that comes equipped with a camera for surveillance tasks. Just push of a button and it will go from a car into robot mode. Unfortunately, it’s just a prototype..for now.
Damn, I can’t wait for the robot toys of the future. Hit the link for an awesome video that unfortunately will not embed here.
Ultraman will bitch-slap any and all monsters in hand-to-hand combat. Plus he flies. How awesome is this remote-controlled mini Ultraman figure that can fly?
The Charabot Ultraman will arrive in Japan next January for $35. You’ll want to import one asap.
You can now get your hands on the new MechRC Humanoid Robot over at Trossen Robotics. They are the first in the United States to offer the Robot, which will cost you $599.99 USD.
It features high torque metal gear servos, LiPo batteries for longer run times, a fluid 3D visual software programming interface for easy custom motions, and a remote control unit is included. It comes with over a hundred pre-installed motions and sounds, so you can make him do some awesome things straight from the box. Check out a dance vid below. Read the rest of this entry »
Available this December from Bandai Japan, this remote-controlled Mechagodzilla robot is mighty impressive on the eyes. It stands nearly 20-inches tall (1/100th scale), and is faithful to the version of the robo-raptor from 1974’s Gojira tai Mekagojira (Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla).
Mechagodzilla features light up eyes, nostrils and mouth, and the spinning rocket-launcher fingers and toes also have flashing LEDs. It can even spin it’s head in a complete circle as he screeches sound effects from the movie. Video below. Read the rest of this entry »
These little bots and the soccer field they play on reminds me of some of the vintage games of yesterday. And what could be more fun then Soccer with Robots. Except of course, Soccer with Zombies.
The set comes with a pair of mini infrared RC robots that can shuffle the ball along the ground and push it into the goal. Press the “sprint” button give your robot a boost of extra energy to power through. It will only cost you about $38 and will give you something new to do while you should be working.
The MechRC is a user-friendly, fully-programmable robot that uses a gamepad to control 17 precision servos that provide 180-degrees of movement. It looks all stealth-like and kinda like Optimus Prime. It has an electronic and mechanical expansion system, so you can build your own version if you like. The price is a bit steep at $760, but if you know what you are doing, it’s a cool badass robot body to mod and manipulate.
Check out this limited edition RC Dalek all polished and buffed to blind it’s enemies. This particular Dalek is based on the “Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150 AD” movie. It’s 12-inches tall, radio-controlled and features a pullback motor with realistic Dalek action. Also has a built-in speaker that plays you quotes from the movie.
This my friends is Dalek bling. And since it’s very special and ultra shiny, only 1,000 are made. Should be available in August 2008, and can be pre-ordered for $99.99.
Tomy has released an updated transparent plastic version of their popular radio-controlled R2-D2 mini action figure.
With the mini-lightsaber remote, R2-D2 will move forward or turn on command, rotate his dome as he rolls, beep and whistle, and illuminate his photoreceptor “eye”. R2-D2 measures approximately 2.5 inches tall, and includes batteries for the remote and the droid himself. What makes this one extra special is the transparent plastic of both the figure and the remote control, showing the inner workings…
But what I really need is a droid that understands Bocchi for my moisture evaporators.
