Biped robots are nothing new, but this one is something special. It’s one of the first walking Lego robots. And it is completely awesome. It walks by raising its feet. For real. It could not have been easy creating this one, but now that it exists, I wonder what other Lego mechas it will inspire.
I can’t wait to see them.

Brilliant looking robot.
However lego bipeds which walk by lifting their feet have been around for some time, see Joe Nagata, Balancer C1 from 2001 at the bottom of my Inspirations page.

The others at the bottom which seem to have an arrangement similar to this robot have videos on their link pages which indicate how this could turn by skid steering the same as my BigFoot.

It’s a very bold move to call this biped for the first one to walk without dragging its feet. There are many bipeds on youtube that walk as well ore much better than this. This is my favorite, and it is older than this Mecha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbDcE6h2qZ4
