Fujitsu’s “service robot” ENON first appeared in October 2008 during the CEATEC exhibition in Japan. Since then he has been selling well. The robot can be used as an information terminal, for entertainment, patrolling, assistance and more. Recently he’s been seen in a shopping mall in Osaka.
While there, he was interacting with customers. Thanks to a camera and face recognition software, the robot can detect a human’s gender and age. And since he can speak and move, this makes him a great salesman. ENON was able to talk customers into going to different stores and even recommended a bar to a woman in her 30s by telling her the style of the bar would fit her beauty.
