Germany based ETH Zurich is hard at work on its second generation naro-tartaruga, a robotic sea turtle. Why not go with a fish design instead? Well, because of its rigidity, which is simpler than a fish. The body being as big as it is allows them to stow sensors and batteries inside which make it autonomous.
Both fin actuators work independently of one another. It swims very much like a real turtle, but it’s looks aren’t going to fool any other turtles for the time being.
