Robot hobby kits sure have come a long way. Look at how awesome this trio is. Dongbu Robot is offering the kit with an exoskeleton (HOVIS Eco) and without (HOVIS Lite). You could have some serious fun with these guys. I love that you can customize them so much.

The HOVIS Eco is 16.4 inches tall and weighs about 3.9 lbs, which isn’t bad at all. It comes with a distance sensor in the chest, but you can get a gyro as well. It is powered by a 7.4V 3,000mA Li-Po battery. The kit also includes a software bundle for programming. Available upgrades include: optional sensors, higher torque servos, an “emoticon” head unit with color-changing LEDs.

I can’t wait until more people start toying with these, so we can see them do some cool and probably unexpected stuff. The HOVIS Genie uses wheels and looks a bit like a vacuum with a phone in the chest. However, that’s no phone. Just a mobile internet device.
