Nicole Lazzeri and her colleagues at the University of Pisa have created a robot whose facial features are some of the most dynamic and convincing we’ve seen yet. But off enough to be downright freaky. The researchers engineered a “Hybrid Engine for Facial Expressions Synthesis” (HEFES), which gives the humanoid robot named “FACE” some of the most convincing, and widest-ranging, facial expressions ever.
Be warned it is hypnotically freakish.
