The DARwIN-OP robotics platform is pretty cute, with almost Batman-like pointy ears. The open source robotics kit has been spotted in a new version that has open software and hardware along with an open platform. You want one. I want one. But it’s rumored to cost $8,000. I’m out!
The robot kit is developed by RoMeLa at Virginia Tech with help from Purdue University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Robotis Co. This line of bots have been in development since 2004 and the open source design is intended to encourage people to tweak the hardware and software and create their own mods.
