DARPA, the U.S. Military’s premier research agency is reportedly still trying to create Terminators. They are looking into the potential of using smart prosthetics, with the science of neurophotonics. Basically, it works by using fiber optic cable
to give a robotic limb sensations and temperature sensitivity routed through the brain of the monstrosity.
DARPA is also funding a Southern Methodist University lab to research brain implants and fiber optic controlled body parts. This would assist thousands of amputees from wars and otherwise. One day, DARPA may be able to help soldiers monitor their nervous systems using neural implants.
