Roppie Home Service Robot Ready For Abuse
December 10th, 2009
That image above says it all. Look at that boy pointing an accusatory finger at the robot. As robots become more common in our homes, they will naturally begin taking the blame for all sorts of things they did not do. Your kid knocks over an expensive vase-The robot did it. Your kid puts some dings and dents in the coffee table-The robot did it. Your kid works out some aggression by punching this robot in the face repeatedly(This one does kinda deserves it wearing that sissy apron and all) because you never pay attention to him-Oh the robot malfunctioned and kept running into the wall.
Using robots as scapegoats and abusing them may become a serious issue, but that’s for another time.
Poor Roppie the Home Service Robot will not have it easy if kids are already pointing. He was recently shown off at the Taipei World Trade Center in Taiwan. The robot is designed to help the elderly and those with disabilities, by doing daily household chores. He’ll carry items, pour drinks etc. Roppie can also dance as seen here.
