Fuji Soft’s New Humanoid Robot
December 21st, 2009

Fuji Soft's New Humanoid RobotFuji Soft Inc. has unveiled its first commercial biped humanoid robot at the All Japan Robot Tournament competition. The robots (one of which goes by the name Sakura-chan), will have an official name and price sometime in early 2010 and the company says that it will be affordable.

We like the design a lot. These bots should have their sights set on universities and other educational institutes, so Aldebaran Robotics’ NAO may finally have some competition in Japan. Some of the robot’s specs include: Linux Ubuntu on an Intel ATOM 1.66GHz CPU integrated with Eclipse and wireless LAN. It stands 15″ tall, weighs 3.5 lbs, and has 20 degrees of freedom. An LED array in its visor displays expressions. There’s also image and speech recognition.
