Daikin Mascot Gets Roboticized
December 14th, 2009

pichon kunTeam Osaka, one of the world’s leading RoboCup Soccer teams, was approached with the idea of creating the Mascot of Daikin into a playful dancing robot. With some of the world’s best minds, Team Osaka constructed the working robot in only 2 months.

Basically, the Japanese believe that Pichon-kun (the mascot named after the sound of a water drop) rids the air of smelly odors, bad bacteria, mold, dust-mites, pollen, you name it. The little guy in the belly of the robot is the actual Pichon-kun, while the casing is Robo Pichon-kun. In comparison, Pichon-kun is ultimately a power ranger.

Think about it, your a little pip-squeak air molecule and the rugged Swine Flu has come to town. Instead of a Superman, we got Daikin Air Purifiers to the rescue! Okay, maybe that isn’t as cute as their commercials, but it’s an idea. Watch the demonstrations and commercials below.
