Student Builds Spherical Robot
October 15th, 2009

Student Builds Spherical RobotGreg Schroll, a grad student at Colorado State University has come up with a spherical robot that got him in Popular Mechanics’ 10 Most Brilliant Innovators of 2009.

The bot is a prototype for now, but Schroll believes the bot has serious applications. The spherical robot has many advantages over other designs. It is less likely to have dirt clog it up and it can probably handle any terrain. It’s well suited for environmentally hazardous areas and underwater and space exploration.
