If you are building a robot, why would you give it just wheels and not tank treads? You also wouldn’t want to just give it tank treads and leave the wheels out either. With both, it can truly handle all terrain. Well, most.

The Galileo Robot has both options and so is amazingly versatile. Normally the Galileo cruises around on four wheels, but when needed, it can turn those wheels into treads. The developer, Galileo Mobility Instruments, is using the robot to create a wheelchair that can climb and decend stairs. It will be an amazing thing for the handicapped. Park in their space and they will run your car over.
