Robot Solves Sudoko Puzzles

Check out this Lego Mindstorms bot that can solve Sudoko puzzles. It uses an optical sensor to scan each line of the puzzle at a time. The blurry images are converted to black and white binary images to improve sharpness, before thy are thinned out to make them more readable.
It uses width, number of tips and tip direction as guidelines, then it figures out what number each image is. After that it does a bunch of math stuff that I’m not smart enough to understand and fills in the answers.
