Phasma Insect Robot

Phasma, a six-legged remote-controlled robot designed by takram design engineering, is built to run dynamically just like an insect. It succeeds.

The mechanical creepy-crawly uses a design that reproduces some of the physics at work when a real insect runs, all accomplished with components like sliding cables, stainless steel springs and rubber joints. It goes so far as to use an alternating tripod gait, which is a highly stable walking pattern commonly used by insects.

Yes but does it bite? Sting? Surely that’s just a matter of time.
