GoldiExcept that there’s no children dancing on it’s corpse.

It’s actually a sculpture called Goldie that lies on Woods Quad. Visitors come from all around to see this dead or sleeping robot hanging out on the grass in the middle of the University of Alabama. It’s a political statement. Goldie symbolizes the closing of Birmingham’s Sloss Furnaces in 1972 and America’s passage into the post-industrial era. The robot is not so much dead or sleeping as just plain turned off.
