Japanese Robots Are Getting Laid Off
July 13th, 2009
They may be the most efficient workers in the world, but even they are not safe from the global downturn, and they are having a tough time finding jobs. Japan has the world’s largest fleet of mechanized workers, but they are not being used or are sitting idle as the country suffers its deepest recession in more than a generation. Consumers worldwide have cut spending on cars and gadgets.
Industrial robot sales fell by some 60% in the first quarter of the year. Tetsuaki Ueda, an analyst at the research firm Fuji Keizai, expects the market to shrink by as much as 40 percent this year.
So the robot that took your job is getting his now. Bastards. We can create a ton of human jobs if we commit to taking these bots apart now. And safe our future.
