KOBIAN: An Emotional Humanoid Robot
May 21st, 2009

Researchers from Waseda University have teamed up with robot manufacturer tmsuk to develop a humanoid robot that uses its entire body to express a wide range of emotions. KOBIAN can express seven different feelings ranging from joy to bewilderment to sadness. It does so by adjusting its posture and using motors in its face to move its lips, eyelids and eyebrows into the appropriate positions.

To express joy, (Presumably after it kills you dead) the robot lifts its soft rubbery hands over its head and opens its eyes and mouth wide. For sadness, (Like when he realizes that he is little more than a slave) he hunches over, hangs his head and holds a hand up to its face, as if to cry.
