Can You Spot R2-D2 In Star Trek?
JJ Abrams is a huge-ass Star Wars fan. Just watch Lost and you’ll see about a million references to it. He says he included R2-D2 in Star Trek, and Paramount is running a contest to spot the astromech droid. Gizmodo thinks they’ve found him. But if you want to play, send the scene you think he is in to Paramount or go to Facebook’s Star Trek group before the May 25. The prize is an original prop from the film.

That’s not R2-D2. It’s a normal sensor array that also appeared in many Star Trek films and series since Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

R2-D2 does appear as a piece of debris after warping into the Vulcan system, though.
