Red Rover Shoots For The MoonWilliam “Red” Whitaker from Carnegie Mellon is the man that led the Carnegie Mellon team to win the DARPA Urban Challenge. Now he has his sights on a new goal. To win the Lunar X Prize by putting a robot on the moon.

This is prototype 2 of the rover, which will use solar panels for power and stereo cameras to help navigate around the lunar surface. In order to win the $20 million prize, Red and his team have to land on the Moon and complete the mission objectives by Dec 31, 2012.
