CareBot By GeckoSystemsABI Research and GeckoSystems think that by 2015 consumers will be willing to spend as much as a new car for a multi-tasking humanoid robot. They also think their multi-tasking personal robot called CareBot will be just the kind of bot to purchase.

The robot would allow you to virtually visit with elderly relatives and save you money because you won’t have to put grandpa in a home. The CareBot can be programmed to dial 911 or any other number you designate in an emergency.

This would scare the bejesus out of old people, mostly because it looks like a freaky 70s movie robot.

Watch the robot navigate around during a party after the break. If you look carefully you’ll notice that all of the older people are eyeing it wearily.
