20 Awesome Robot Cakes, 2 Extreme Fails
February 10th, 2009
We fear and yet simultaneously love the robot here at Botropolis. We also love a good cake. Combine the two and the staff goes crazy on a week-long sugar high that ends with… You don’t even want to know.
Below are 20 Awesome robot cakes. They illustrate everything we love in a geek cake, especially when it comes to robots. They are the kinds of cakes that only creative and talented individuals can make. We salute them. Also included are 2 extreme cake FAILS that should be easy to spot. Do not make cakes like those. Please.
Isaac had a great 3rd birthday thanks to this cool cake.

We’ve featured this one before. Awesome tin robot cake.

Another retro robo cake. Nice detailing.

Awesome Wall-E cake. This is how you make a robot cake.

Another great Wall-E cake. Even the dirt on his treads looks tasty.

Bender cake. Bite my shiny metal ass icing.

This retro looking confectionery bot looks like it’s ready to kick ass. Or just go crazy.

Optimus Prime in truck form.

Robert the robot is loaded with candy.

R2-D2 cake. This is exactly the droid you’re looking for. He’s tasty too.

This “abduction cake” has a pretty cool robot on top.

This Dalek cake has brought friends.

A Dalek cake from a more 2-D universe.

This robot cake looks happy to be eaten. A little too happy.

Bionicle cake anyone?

mmmm….robot donut cake.

Not technically a cake, this Gingerbread K-9 is pretty awesome.

Cylon centurion cake.

Okay, this might not be the most artistic robot cake ever, but it’s cute and sports that authentic homemade look. Learn how to make one yourself.

Sweet robo-Jesus! What happened to this Wall-E? He used to be so lively. Now he’s just…Holy crap. No words.

These cakes are amazing. I am a little panicky over identifying Fail #2, though, and worry it might be mine. Isaac did have a good third birthday regardless, and we survived that tricky moment when he hesitated about cutting into the robot cake. Given the choice between tears and cake, he chose cake.
The face was the last to go.

Aw, KarenM, no way is it yours! That was cute! I’m guessing Fail #2 (Fail #1, really) was the donuts. I mean, it’s amusing, but… hum. (Still, I agree, it’s hard to identify for sure. But it’s definitely not yours.)

I love these cakes, think I def spotted no. 2 –
After many years of baking and creating for friends and family I am in process of setting up my cake design biz, so website I have supplied is not up and running yet – it is still undergoing construction. I would like to submit pics of a dalek and a davros cake which I have made over the last couple of years for my son’s birthday. Also did a tardis wedding cake last week. How can I submit?

Hi there,
I absolutely LOVE your Optimus Prime cakes. Would you be able to give me instructions on how to do both of them? My daughter loves Optimus Prime, and she really wants an OP cake for her birthday at the end of November. I am particularly interested in how you did OP in his body form.
Thanks!
