I-Shovel Robot Snow Plow

I-Shovel Robot Snow PlowShoveling snow is one job robots can gladly have. That is one job that gives humans heart attacks due to the cold and exertion. The I-Shovel is an automatic snow shovel that can cover about 800 square feet in 15 minutes all on it’s own.

The I-Shovel is designed to park itself in your driveway and wait in sleep mode. Then when it’s sensors detect over 1″ of snow, it wakes up to do the job. You’ll have to mark your driveway with metallic tape first, but the robot will go back and forth across your driveway and push the snow out of the way.

After it’s job is done, it goes back to sleep where it waits some more. If it snows more, the process gets repeated. The onboard battery will let it shovel about 4,000 square feet. For now it’s a prototype, but we should be seeing it commercially available in about a year. Check out a video below.
