Wall-E is the cutest robot of all time. Just look at the box office numbers if you don’t believe me. The Ultimate Wall-E remote control robot is now available for pre-order. Wall-E can chat with you, dance, play music, even sense / avoid obstacles. He won’t get you a date, but that’s life. They don’t expect to ship him until October 16th, so you may be lonely for awhile.
Bot tinkerers at the Technical University of Delft already built a dragonfly-type bot, dubbed the DelFly Micro, with a wingspan of four inches, but they’ve attached a tiny camera onto it. That’s not all, they’ve also developed image recognition software that they hope will let the bot recognize objects, which could potentially let it locate individuals in a disaster area, find suspects or just plain bug people for no reason.
Any fan of Lost has seen the Bad Robot mascot at the end of the show. Some of us robo-enthusiasts have been craving actual merchandise because it’s a great mascot. We are in luck. JJ Abrams had these limited edition figurines made in a batch of 500. 3 will be given away at Comic-con this week, where they’ll be showing off a pilot of the new show, Fringe. Nice!
Though it looks like some kind of Moon robot, the Tilted Twister, a LEGO NXT robot, can solve a Rubik’s cube without the help of a PC. The Tilted Twister is able to perform this feat of geek daring thanks to an ultrasonic sensor that reads the colors of the faces on the cube, calculates the moves needed to solve the cube and it’s solved. Video below my fellow geeks.
